Making a real difference.

Harry Thompson

16 year old Harry Thompson has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, a disease causing muscle degeneration. Harry has had to deal with many difficulties over recent years, including becoming wheelchair dependent three years ago. Harry has a great passion and skill for Powerchair Football, playing for Percy Hedley Sports Academy, he has worked hard to develop his skills and understanding of the game and has become an integral part of his teams success. Harry was given the opportunity to attend the FIPFA Powerchair World Cup held in Paris in October 2011 but his family were unable to fund the travel and accomodation required.Desperate for Harry not to miss this once in a lifetime opportunity, his mum Michelle applied to Smile For Life for assistance. We were delighted to fund the trip for Harry which allowed him to meet some of the finest players in the world, many of whom inspired Harry to carry on working hard to progress in the game and to set his sights upon the England National Team! .
